~This is a series on the adventures of a little girl named Scootaloo, who has adventures at Fred Rogers Middle School as a 5th Grader. This episode focuses on her first day. Any letters in Bold Italics are the narration ^^~
The sun is rising on the nice town of Starlet City. The rays shine in on a bedroom window in a nice, 50's-style house on 123 Elm Street and onto a 10-year old girl named Scootaloo Burns resting peacefully in her bed. The alarm clock on her nightstand rings.
Scoots: *turns the alarm off and yawns* Well, first day of school, don't wanna be late!
With that, Scoots went down to the breakfast table, her bare feet barely making a sound on the carpeted floor. In no time, she finds her father, Joe Burns, with her uncle Steve Burns, at the breakfast table, waiting for her. Steve is reading the newspaper while sipping a latte, while Joe is playing Tetris on his phone while having breakfast.
Scoots: Morning, Dad! Morning Uncle Steve!
Steve and Joe: Morning, Scoots!
Steve: Sleep well?
Joe: That's good. Well, we have breakfast ready. What would you like? We got scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, sausages, or cereal.
Scoots: *pours herself a bowl of Lucky Charms, then tops it with banana slices*
Joe: How convenient.
After breakfast, Scoots goes to get dressed and gather her school supplies for the day. She packs her backpack with 6 notebooks, a box of pens and pencils, a case of colored pencils, and other school supplies. Afterwards, she brushes her teeth, then goes outside to wait for the school bus by the curb.
Joe: OK Scoots, do you have your stuff ready?
Joe: Are your teeth brushed?
Joe: OK then, you're all set!
Just as Joe tells his daughter she's all set, the school bus arrives. The door opens and Scoots sees a 25-year-old man wearing an indigo jacket over a beige shirt, light blue jeans, black shoes, and an indigo cap driving it. After saying good bye to her father, Scoots boards the bus.
Man: Hi, I'm John! And I'll be your driver for this year!
Scoots: Nice to meet you John!
As Scoots goes to find a seat, she finds one in the front, her best friends Applebloom and Sweetie Belle in the same seat, Applebloom by the window.
Sweetie: Hey Scoots!
Scoots: Hey! *sits by the other girls* I can't wait to get to school! *fastens her seat belt*
Applebloom: Neither can ah!
John: Oh ho ho, eager ones, huh?
They all laugh. After picking up 2 more passengers, they arrive at the school. The girls head to the principal's office to collect their schedules and come out to go to class.
Applebloom: Wow! We're in the same class!
Sweetie Belle: Room 214 for homeroom!
The girls go to Room 214 and take their seats, which happen to be in the front of the room.
Sweetie Belle: So exciting!
Scoots: I know, I know! First day of fifth grade!
As they speak, a young, 23-year-old man wearing a blue lumberjack shirt, khakis, and brown shoes enters the classroom, carrying a brown briefcase. Setting the case down, he then writes his name on the blackboard.
Man: Good morning, class. I'm Mr. Alan, and I'll be your teacher for this year.
CMC and the 2 boys: Good morning, Mr. Alan!
Alan: *sees the class* Wow. Only 5 students. Oh well. Well, I have to run down to the principal's office for a few minutes. Use this time to introduce yourselves.
Mr. Alan leaves the classroom. The CMC turn to face the 2 boys sitting behind them.
Scoots: Hi! I'm Scootaloo! And these are my 2 best friends, Applebloom and Sweetie Belle!
Sweetie Belle: Hi!
Applebloom: Howdy! What're your names?
Boy 1: I'm Gumball. And this is my brother Darwin.
Scoots: You 2 are brothers? But he's a fish and you're a cat.
Darwin: I'm his adoptive brother.
Gumball: Yup. I also have a sister: Anais.
Scoots: That explains it!
Mr. Alan returns. As soon as he does, Principal Spongebob Squarepants comes on the school intercom.
Spongebob *through intercom*: Good morning, Fred Rogers Middle School! Today is Monday, September 8th. On the menu for lunch today, we have pizza with a side of french fries and a choice of either applesauce, orange wedges, fresh red grapes, or fresh pears. For dessert, we have fudgesicles in your choice of either milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate fudge. And for a beverage, you have a choice of either white, chocolate, or strawberry milk. And today, since it's really nice out, we will have only 3 classes today and have extended lunch and recess for the rest of the day. And since it's the first day, there will be no homework assignments. That is it for morning announcements and have a swell day!
After morning announcements, Mr. Alan explains the schedule.
Alan: Well, as Principal Squarepants said, only 4 classes today. Today's classes are from 8:30 to 9:30, we have ELA. From 9:30 to 10:30, we have Social Studies. From 10:30 to 11:30, we have Science. And then we'll have our extended lunch and recess period. Are there any questions?
None of the students raise their hands.
Alan: OK then, let's get down to business. All those classes I just mentioned will take place here in this classroom. And now, we'll go over the rules. *points to the rules sheet on the wall* Rule Number 1: Pay attention to the teacher at all times. Number 2: Gum is allowed, just don't spit it on the floor or stick it on desks, chairs, etc. Number 3: Treat others the way you want to be treated. Number 4: Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself. Number 5: If you have to leave the classroom during a class to use the bathroom or get a drink, please let me know first. Number 6: Please don't lose any of the board game or puzzle pieces. Am I understood?
Students: Yes, Mr. Alan.
Alan: Good. Now, before we start ELA, I need to use the restroom. I'll be right back.
Mr. Alan leaves the room. The girls turn to Gumball and Darwin.
Scootaloo: So, us girls are gonna have a sleepover at my house this Friday night. Wanna come?
Gumball: I don't know. I'll have to ask my mom.
Darwin: Yeah me too.
Scootaloo: OK. If they say yes, we'll see ya Friday.
Mr. Alan returns. Then, they begin ELA. Alan picks up a copy of The Hardy Boys: Book 73: The Billion Dollar Ransom, much to Scootaloo's delight.
Scootaloo: Oh boy! A mystery!
Alan: Well, someone's excited. *smiles, then starts to read the first chapter*
Just as Mr. Alan finishes Chapter 1, the clock strikes 9:30, then they begin the other 2 classes. Once those 2 are up, the students head to the cafeteria to pick up their food. The students all choose the same dish, but they each have different milks, fruits, and desserts. Scootaloo and Gumball have chocolate milk, milk chocolate fudgesicles, and orange wedges, Applebloom and Darwin have strawberry milk, dark chocolate fudgesicles, and pears, and Sweetie Belle has white milk, a white chocolate fudgesicle, and grapes.
Gumball: So, I'll ask my mom tonight. When she gives her answer, I'll call you.
Gumball: But, I don't know your phone number.
Scootaloo: Don't worry. You can find us in the "B" section of the phone book.
After lunch, the students go outside to the playground. Gumball and Darwin head to the tether-ball court, while the girls settle under a tree.
Scootaloo: Man, my feet are killing me!
Applebloom: Applejack told me that whenever mah feet are sore, she always told me to take mah shoes off.
Sweetie Belle: But, I don't know if that's allowed here.
Principal Squarepants approaches them.
Spongebob: I heard what you're talking about, and I wanna say that you are allowed to take your shoes and socks off out here. Just remember to put them back on when you go back on, OK?
Scootaloo: OK, Principal Squarepants!
Spongebob: Right. See ya! *leaves*
Scootaloo: Well, that's taken care of. *removes her shoes and socks and lets her feet rest in the grass* Ahhh. That's better. *spreads out her toes to ease her pain*
About 2 hours later, the students head to the front of the building to wait for John's bus to take them home. After boarding the bus, Mr. Alan comes running out.
Scootaloo: Yes, Mr. Alan?
Alan: You dropped this. *hands Scootaloo her pencil case*
Scootaloo: Thanks Mr. Alan.
Alan: No problem.
John: See ya at home, little bro.
Alan: You too, big bro.
Scootaloo: Wait. You 2 are brothers?
John and Alan: Yup.
Alan: Jinx! You owe me a soda!
Alan: Well, see ya! *leaves*
John: See ya!
With that, John takes the kids home. When Scootaloo gets off the bus, she finds her father and uncle watching a football game on TV. Joe has a bowl of popcorn on his lap, while Steve has a bag of pretzel rods.
Scootaloo: Dad! Uncle Steve! I'm home!
Steve: Hey hey Scoots! How was your first day?
Scootaloo: It was awesome! I'll tell you more about it after I change into my after-school clothes.
With this being said, Scoots goes to her room and comes back out a few minutes later, wearing a blue t-shirt, tan shorts, and is not wearing anything on her feet. She sits between her father and uncle, cross-legged. She then tells them about her first day.
Joe: Well, I'm glad you had a good first day.
Steve: We had a pizza earlier. We saved you a couple of slices.
Scootaloo: Thanks, Uncle Steve.
Scoots heats up the pizza slices and watches the game with her father and uncle. halfway towards the end of the game, the phone rings.
Joe: Hmm? Who could that be?
Joe gets up, goes to the phone, and answers.
Joe: Hello, Burns residence.
Female voice: Hello.
Joe: Who is this?
Female voice: This is Nicole Watterson.
Joe: Nicole?! IS that really you?!
Joe: It's been such a long time!
Nicole: I know right?! Anyhow, I was calling to ask if my sons Gumball and Darwin could attend a sleepover at your house they got invited to by your daughter.
Joe: Of course!
Nicole: Thanks! *hangs up*
Joe goes back to his daughter and brother.
Steve: So, who was that?
Joe: You remember Nicole Watterson, don't ya Steve?
Joe: Yeah! That was her on the phone!
Scootaloo: You 2 know Gumball and Darwin's mom?
Steve: Yeah, she was one of our best friends growing up.
Joe: We used to have her come to our house every other Friday.
Scootaloo: And did she say Gumball and Darwin could come over?
Joe: Yes. She did.
Joe: Well, I'm glad you had a good first day, Scoots. So, how do you like it?
Scootaloo: Awesome! But I like being home even more.
Joe: You know the old saying, "Home's where the heart is."
Steve: Say, how's about we go out for ice cream to celebrate a good first day?
So Steve, Joe, and Scootaloo leave to go get ice cream to celebrate Scoots' successful first day of school.
