Story Edit

One Thursday afternoon, Danny Fenton was doing some homework with his friend Matt Blake at the local library.

"Hey, Danny," asked Matt, "what'd you get for the answer to number 7?"

"The capital city of Spain is Madrid," said Danny, "what did you get?"

Matt was confused.

"Strange," said Matt, "My answer was three hundred forty-eight. "

Now Danny was confused.

"Wait," said Danny, "are you doing that worksheet on European capitals?"

"No," said Matt, "I'm doing that multiplication worksheet."

"Oh boy," said Danny, "we have math homework, too?"

"It's going to be a long afternoon," said Matt.

Nevertheless, the two managed to finish their homework, and began to walk home. However, as they were approaching Matt's home, they saw a moving van parked in front of the house next to Matt's.

"Looks like someone new's moving in," said Danny.

"Yeah," said Matt, "I wonder who."

"Maybe we'll find out tomorrow," said Danny.

"Yeah," said Matt, "see you then!"

"You too," said Danny.

The next morning at school, the boys were sitting in the row they shared with Danny's other friend, Milla Basset, waiting for their teacher, Mr. Leonard Lopart.

"Where's Mr. Lopart," asked Milla.

"I don't know," said Matt, "he's never late."

"Well," said Danny, "there is a first for everything, you know."

"True," said Matt.

Just then, Mr. Lopart came into the room with a cup of coffee and a bag of donuts.

"Sorry I'm late, everyone," said Mr. Lopart, "My car broke down, so I had to catch a cab and call a tow truck. Now, before we begin, I'd like you all to welcome a new student to our class."

Just then, a girl wearing a pink shirt with a yellow star on it, a purple hooded vest, black glasses, teal shorts, and blue boots entered the classroom.

"Everyone," said Mr. Lopart, "meet Inez Ferguson."

All the students greeted Inez. Well, all of them, that is, except for Matt, whose eyes and mouth had shot wide open.

"Matt," asked Danny, "are you alright?"

Matt didn't respond.

"Anyways," said Mr. Lopart, "Inez, why don't you tel the class a little about yourself?"

"Thank you, Mr. Lopart," said Inez, "Well, I moved to Idaho from Colorado with my dad, and he's a doctor. And I love to read Nancy Drew. I have a collection of her books at home."

"Interesting," said Mr. Lopart.

"Nice," said Danny.

But Matt just kept staring until Danny poked him with his pencil.

"What'd I miss," asked Matt.

Inez giggled.

"Oh," said Matt, "Hi, Inez. I'm Matt, and this is Danny and Milla."

"Nice to meet you," said Inez.

"Same to you," said Danny.

As Inez took her seat, Matt looked at her with a lovestruck expression on his face.

"Man," said Matt, "this one's a real beauty!"

Later, the gang was having lunch. Matt, Danny, and Milla sat at their usual table while Inez sat at a table by the window.

"Hey," said Matt, "Do any of you have any ideas on how to impress her?"

"Just act cool and stay collected," said Danny.

"And maybe compliment her about something," added Milla.

"Or even ask her to dinner," said Danny.

"Alright," said Matt, "here goes!"

Matt cracked his knuckles, took a deep breath, and walked to Inez's table.

"Hey," said Matt.

"Oh, hi," said Inez.

"Those are some nice boots you've got," said Matt.

"Thanks," said Inez, "I like them too."

"Say," said Matt, "I was wondering if you'd like to, I don't know, go out to dinner with me sometime?"

"Sure," said Inez, "when?"

"How about tomorrow at the diner," asked Matt.

"Sure," said Inez, "see you then!"

Matt then walked back to his, Danny, and Milla's table.

"Well," Matt said to himself, "that was easy."

Soon enough, the day of Matt and Inez's date arrived, and after washing his hair when he got home from school, Matt went upstairs to his third oldest brother, Martin,'s room and knocked on the door.

"Come in," said Martin.

Matt opened the door and walked in.

"Hey, Matt," said Martin, "what can I do for you?"

"Hey, Mart," said Matt, "I'm going on a dinner date with this new girl named Inez to the diner tonight, and I was wondering if I could borrow some of your cologne."

"Sure," said Martin, "I'll see if I have any."

Martin went to his dresser, opened one of the top drawers, and took out two cologne cans.

"Which one do you wanna use," asked Martin, "I have "California Dreamin'" or "Incense & Peppermints". Go ahead, take your pick."

"I think I'll try "Incense & Peppermints"," said Matt.

"Your wish is my command," said Martin as he handed Matt the can, "and you can keep it if you want."

"Thanks, bro," said Matt.

"No problem," said Martin.

Soon, Matt was ready, and he and Inez were driven to the diner by his oldest brother, Melvin in Melvin's 1992 Volkswagen Cabriolet.

"Have fun, you two," said Melvin.

"Thanks, Mel," said Matt.

However, when Matt and Inez went to the door, they saw a sheet of paper taped to it.

"What's this," asked Inez.

Matt looked at the paper. It was a notice saying "Due to renovations, this diner is closed until further notice. Thank you for your cooperation.".

"Well, that's a bummer," said Matt.

Matt and Inez went back to the car and sat back down, looking glum.

"Hey," asked Melvin, "what's wrong?"

"The diner's closed because of renovations," said Matt.

"I see," said Melvin, "well, I know a place you two can go."

"Really," asked Inez, "where?"

"It's this new restaurant called Mateo Watanabe's," said Melvin, "they're a multicultural restaurant that sells dishes from Spain and Japan. It opened up last week."

"Oh, nice," said Inez, "you know, I have a friend in Colorado who's dad is Japanese."

"Nice," said Matt.

"So," asked Melvin, "wanna go there instead?"

"Sure," said Matt, "why not?"

With that, Melvin drove them to the restaurant and the two lovebirds entered.

"Good evening," said the hostess, "welcome to Mateo Wanabe's! How many tonight?"

"Two, please," said Matt.

The hostess lead Matt and Inez to a table and the two were seated.

"Your waiter will be with you shortly," said the hostess.

Matt and Inez looked at their menus while waiting. Soon enough, a waiter arrived.

"Hello," said the waiter, "may I start you guys off with a drink?"

"I'd like some Sprite please," said Matt.

"Same here," said Inez.

"Alright," said the waiter, "I'll be right back."

With that, the waiter left, and Matt and Inez looked at their menus.

"So," asked Matt, "do you know what you want?"

"I think I'm gonna try this Yakitori stuff," said Inez.

"That's cool," said Matt, "I'm gonna try a bowl of Gazpacho."

Then, the waiter arrived with their drinks.

"All set to order," asked the waiter.

"Yes," said Matt, "I would like a bowl of this Gazpacho, please."

"Alright," said the waiter, "and you, Miss?"

"I would like to try some Yakitori," said Inez.

"Alrighty then," said the waiter, "I'll have your orders ready soon."

The waiter picked up their menus and walked away, and Matt and Inez started talking.

"So," asked Matt, "what made you and your dad want to move up here to Idaho?"

"Well," said Inez, "my mom's a smoking addict, and since my dad's a doctor, he kinda thought it was dangerous for me to be around someone who smokes a lot."

"And I don't blame him," said Matt, "I wouldn't wanna be in that situation either."

"Yeah," said Inez, "and I really didn't get too upset over it, because I didn't like that one bit."

"Yeah," said Matt.

Soon enough, the waiter arrived with their meals.

"Here's your food," said the waiter, "enjoy!"

"Thanks," said Matt.

The waiter left, and Matt and Inez began to dine. Soon, they finished and the waiter came back with their check.

"I'll get these out of your way for you," said the waiter as he took the dishes.

Matt then paid the check using s twenty dollar bill he was given by Melvin.

"Thanks for coming," said the waiter.

"Have a good one," said Matt as he and Inez walked outside and went back to the car.

"So," asked Melvin as they got in, "how was it?"

"It was great," said Matt, "Can't wait to go there again!"

"I'm glad," said Melvin.

Melvin then drove Matt and Inez home. Inez walked into her house and saw her father, Dr. Roy Ferguson, on the couch watching TV.

"Hey, Dad," said Inez.

"Hey, Nezzy," said Dr. Ferguson, "how was your date?"

"It was great," said Inez, "that Yakitori tasted really good."

"Did you go to that Spanish-Japanese restaurant that opened up last week," asked Dr. Ferguson.

"Yup," said Inez.

"Cool," said Dr. Ferguson, "Well, I'm glad you enjoyed your evening."

"Thanks," said Inez, "Anyways, I'm gonna go upstairs."

"Alright," said Dr. Ferguson.

Inez went upstairs to her room and sat down on her bed.

"I really hope I get to see Matt again," said Inez, "I think I like him."
